July 2007 Edition
Saturday December 06, 2008 2:42 pm
Brothers,
For the summer, I have had the opportunity of working on staff at our own beautiful Camp Napowan. The friendships and memories that I am creating up
here are absolutely priceless. I certainly do miss all my family and friends back home, but Napowan is starting to become my home away from home (next to the Bomya's home). All 70 staffers that I am working with have become family and the funny moments and good times we share can only be found up here. If you ever get an opportunity to work up at Napowan, definitely take it. I guarantee you will have one of the best summers of your life.
The OA program up here is coming along great. This is definitely one of the best OA summers we have had. The ceremonies have been amped up with revolutionary ideas and Lakota Lodge continues to impress both its own members and visiting members. The ordeal candidates are doing many positive projects to the camp and have been building great closing fire bowl fires.
At the end of the month, I will be attending the National Conservation and Leadership Summit at Indiana State University. Here, I and a few other key lodge officials will be drafting the 2008-2012 Lakota Lodge Strategic Plan. This plan will coincide with the new National Strategic Plan. This plan will be a roadmap for the lodge for the next 4 years, outlining major goals and items that we will be accomplishing. This plan will be finalized at our 2007 August LLD/Lodge planning meeting taking place on August 18-19 at the American Legion Post in Lake Zurich. I hope to see as many lodge members as possible. This LLD will be a great training experience and will be the starting point to a great lodge year. I will be selecting the next Lodge Executive Committee members very soon and I encourage any arrowman to get involved with these committees at a chapter or lodge level. To find out more information about making a difference in Lakota, attend the LLD.
I am looking forward to a great rest of the summer and an even better Lakota Lodge year.
Yours in Brotherhood,
Richie Ferolo
Lakota Lodge Chief
