November 2008 Edition
Saturday December 06, 2008 3:04 pm
Brothers,
Lakota Lodge has had a very busy fall season...one for the record books. We started September with our Fall
Fellowship at Camp Lakota. At Fall Fellowship
we were able to complete an incredible amount of cheerful service for our council
camp. Along with that, we held some awesome ceremonies and the food was
excellent. We then moved to the end of September where we had the Section C-
3B Conclave which we were the host lodge for. That meant that we organized all
of the facilities and logistics for the event. Conclave was a great weekend for the
lodge. First, we had 66 members attend the conclave who all took part in
awesome trainings, games, and shows. Also, at the Conclave the section elections
were held where our very own Richie Ferolo was elected as Section Vice Chief.
October marked the Lodge's 13th annual Haunted Hike. The Haunted Hike was a
huge success this year. Thanks to the steadfast guidance and leadership of our
Haunted Hike Chairman Chris Erdoss and Haunted Hike Adviser Jay Haack the
Haunted Hike went off without a hitch. I can't begin to describe how much I
appreciate all the help and dedication that everyone that came out gave. Whether
you came as staff or a participant this year’s Haunted Hike couldn’t have
happened without your dedication to the OA and Lakota Lodge. Once again,
thank you so much for everything!
Looking to the future, we have our February LLD as well as the 2009 National
Order of the Arrow Conference. The February LLD is a great opportunity for you
to not only learn more about the Order of the Arrow, but to also meet a bunch of
new people and have a great time with your fellow Arrowmen. In the summer of
2009, the lodge will be attending the National Order of the Arrow Conference
where over 8,000 Arrowmen will meet at Indiana State University. I highly
suggest that you all attend the 2009 NOAC. This is an opportunity of a lifetime.
In closing, I just want to say what a great job you have all been doing. The Lodge
has been very successful in the past few months. Without all of you having such a
tremendous interest in the Order of the Arrow we wouldn’t be able to make this
program happen. You are part of Scouting’s National Honor Society and you
ARE the best in the Boy Scouts of America. Remember the words of Meteu "...
For he who serves his fellows, is of his fellows' greatest."
Yours in Brotherhood,
Mike Stanbary
