Lakota Lodge's Ceremonies Team

Lakota Lodge Drum Beat (December 27, 2007)

This past year, 2007, has been a great one for Lakota Lodge ceremonies. The new Ceremonies Chief, Jonathan Thorsell, and Vice Chief Kurt Wagner, have lead the team to new heights. Beginning with innovations and ideas at Spring Fellowship to enhance the Ordeal experience through Summer and Fall Fellowships, the lodge team has continued to improve.

Apart from Fellowships, the team has presented at numerous Eagle Courts of Honor, Cub Scout Arrow of Light ceremonies and sadly a few Broken Arrow ceremonies. In all cases, the team has greatly contributed to the success and significance of each.

Last (but certainly not least); summer camp support has to be mentioned. From all reports, the Napowan ceremonies were phenomenal, and serve to provide new goals to surpass next year.

2008 promises the offer of new challenges and new opportunities to Lakota Lodge Ceremonies. Next year we will partake in numerous Cub Scout AOLs in February and March, Chapter Callouts in April and of course the 2008 Fellowships. With all of these tasks on the board, we can’t do it without you!

In February, we will be hosting a Ceremonies Workshop, similar to LLD. The workshop will focus on learning principles, upcoming ceremonies and the creation and maintenance of regalia. Anyone interested in Lodge ceremonies should think about joining us, it should be a good time. Watch for news and announcements on the workshop.

Thanks to all who participated or helped the Lakota Lodge Ceremony Team this last year. Thanks to Britt Swyter and Mike Kowols, for their work as coaches. Special thanks to Gail Walton and Peggy Kowols, for their help creating new regalia. Also thanks to Sue Finkle, presently hard at work creating additional new regalia. Finally, great thanks to all the brothers who were part of ceremonies in 2007. Well Done!
